TIPS FOR
AND ATHLETES
1. FOCUS ON SPORTSMANSHIP: First and foremost, by stepping
onto the field encouraging children to embrace, "It's not whether you
win or lose, but how you play the game that's important" you'll
actually be instilling in our children that champions are made from
something they have deep inside them -- a desire, a dream, and a
visibn.
2. "I" IN TEAM: When you think about the parallels sports have to life
in general, you should consider that the character children gain from
involvement in athletics carries over into their everyday perceptions
of and arttitudes in life, When they develop the attitude that their
involvement on a team is all about winning the MVP at the end of the

3. BE A PROPER ROLE MODEL: When involved in sporting events,
keep in mind that your representation on and/or off the field will
certainly get noticed not just'by children but by other parents. By
offering praise and providing encouragement to ALL players on the
field, even the opponents, you are s~ing an example that I'd like to
think all Behave like an
adult and realize (or field)
deserves encouragement, respect and wo~s of kindness.
