T.A. CEOS share efforts
The Terra Alta CEOS Club
met on September 19. 2011 at
the home of Nancy Hoffman.
She greeted members, donned
an apron over her good clothes
and set about demonstrating
how to make apple dumplings.
These apple dumplings baked
during the meeting and were
ready in time for refreshments
with vanilla ice cream. Once the
apple dumplings were shoved
into the oven, the meeting was
alled to order by President Gall
Rose. The Club Collect and Sa-
lute to the American Flag was
repeated.
Devotions were presented by
Sandra Larue. She chose for
her Scripture Galtians 6:1-10,
To bear someone's burden is to
take that weight onto ourselves.
Sandra also read a poem. "When
I say I am a Christian" by Carol
Wimmer. Una Kisamore added
an emergency; an information
sheet for family or designated
caregiver, and a caregiver's
check list.
Pig-in-the poke, two scented
candles, was sent by Betty
Smith and was won by Nancy
Hoffman.
Marjorie Dixon reported on
sending thank you notes to the
establishments for colecting
items for the Veterans Project.
Beatrice Kelly and Gall Rose
reported on thank you notes of
appreciation for concerns from
various club members' families.
Gall Rose read a letter from
Clarksburg VA for our collec-
tion of items for the Veterans.
Old Business revealed mem-
bers turned in their Buckwheat
Festival tickets; Buckwheat
Festival set-up for exhibits at
memorial North Building was
Sept. 22.

The Terra Alto Club prepared
an educational display for the
Buckwheat Festival. Also, our
Club will join the Terra Alto
Tree Lighting festivities by be-
ginning now to make crafts to
offer for sale.

Hartley at the Extension Office.

ing upcoming holiday events
for our Adopted Residents

Dixon will check on what is
needed for the patients. Plans
were made for the October Par-
ty with assignments made for
various food items.
Committee reports included an
updated from Nancy Hoffman,
chairperson of Marketing and
Membership. Nancy reported
on the 10th anniversary of the
Terra Alto Betterment Commit-
tee's activities held on Sept. 17
in the Terra Alto Park. THree
from our group attended. A
lunch was served and Loretta
Warring explained the many ac-
complishments of the commit-
tee. Nancy reported on the Terra
Alto CEOS Club's projects and
through this report we were able
to recruit a new mailbox mem-
ber, Nancy Teets.
Marjorie Dixon gave the Club
Family report, explaining one
of the next year's goals will be
to document your family health
history.
Due to the length of the meet-
ing, Nancy Hoffman led a quick Sandra Lame and the devotions
Health Motivation exercise of to be presented by Marjorie
jsut standing for 10 seconds and
then sitting back down.
Continuing Education Com-
mittee chairperson, Beatrice
Kelly, reminded members to
turn in the number of books
read and the amount in pound-
age of recycled items before
November 30.
Pop tabs were turned in at this
meeting. Members were urged
to continue to save tabs and
Educational labels from cereal
boxes.
Assignments for October's
meeting were made which in-
cluded the lesson on "Getting
Organized", to be presented by
Dixon.
A drawing was held for a pint
of apple butter and the winner
was Una Kisamore.
With the completion of the
meeting, Kathleen Harmon pre-
sented a "green program" in
which she demonstrated Shak-
lee products, following which
Gall Rose read "The Green
Thing" and told of her recent
cruise.
Those apple dumplings and
vanilla ice cream were served
to Gall Rose, Marjorie Dixon,
Wilma Glover, Sandra Larue,
Una Kisamore and guest, Kath-
leen Harmon.
Exhibit open
The Kingwood Public Library will be observing the Town of
Kingwood's bicentennial with an exhibit of vintage pictures from
the Photographic Archives.
The exhibit will be open to the public during normal business
hours.

The prepared WVU Extension
Service Lesson was entitled
Karing for Kin and was pre-
sented by Hoffman. The Educa-
tional Objectives of the lesson
were: to identify care agencies
available to help in decision-
making processes concerning
legal, financial and health is-
sues; to identify available care
at different stages of aging: and
to differentiate and compare
home and institutional care.
Consideration should be given
to the health of the care giver
as well. Nancy presented those
present with a folder with many
helpful handouts which includ-
ed recommended supplies to in-
clude a basic kit to prepare for
New Business revealed the
National CEOS Conference,
held in Wisconsin, to be a great
event with four CEOS members
from Preston County attending.
Next year's National CEOS
Conference will be held in Co-
lumbia, South Carolina.
This year, there will be 75
names on the Santa Tree at the
Extension Office. Oct 4-5-6 are
the dates for the WV CEOS Fall
Conference. CEOS members
are to secure a parking pass,
if needed, to work at Memo-
rial North. County Council will
plan on meeting on Nov 10 with
a 9:30 a.m. meeting followed by
a Craft Day scheduled for the
afternoon. All Preston County
CEOS clubs are invited to pres-
ent and instruct in the making of
a craft or crafts.
